THE STORY
This collaboration between yesHEis, GMR Pictures, Bulls+Arrows and Joel McKerrow is a short film about guilt, shame, forgiveness and freedom!
Inspired by the captivating piece of writing by Joel McKerrow, “The Falling”, a woman traverses the barren wasteland, an unfair world, seeking sanctitude. Her bitterness pumps like a disease through her veins until her heart grows dark. Reaping her vengeance, the woman now races against time to save herself, but she is not alone, for the hunter is in pursuit.

A stellar team was pulled together to produce this short film, including GMR Pictures, Bulls+Arrows, yesHEis, Joel McKerrow, Youth Dimension + artists within SPARC.
JOEL MCKERROW
Writer / Voiceover
Joel McKerrow is a writer, speaker, educator, community arts worker and currently one of Australia’s most successful internationally touring performance poets.
Based out of Melbourne, Australia he is the Artist Ambassador for the aid and development organisation ‘TEAR Australia’ and was the co-founder of community arts organisation, 'The Centre for Poetics and Justice' (2010-2013). Joel was the third ever Australian representative at the Individual World Poetry Slam Championships in the USA (2012), was invited to perform his own show at the famed Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC, was invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House at the Australian National Poetry Slam Finals in 2013 and is a TEDx speaker and performer.
He is also the frontman poet from the band, 'Joel McKerrow & the Mysterious Few' and spends much of his time running poetry workshops within schools and other organisations around poetry, creativity, identity, social justice and spirituality.
DANA MARIE NEWALL
Producer / DIrector
Producer & Director Dana Marie Newell is an award-winning filmmaker who produces films that illustrate stories of the human heart and draws on themes inspired by her faith.
Dana studied her Bachelors Degree in Drama Performance and then moved on to a career in the broadcast and production industry through various production roles while also managing acting opportunities. She now writes, directs and produces films and documentaries through GMR Pictures while working full time at a design focused creative studio in Melbourne as a producer. She is a passionate storyteller who uses her insight of heartfelt personal experiences to bring out the truth of the characters, whether fiction or real life.
Collaborating with the Bulls+Arrows team and Joel McKerrow for this project has been a wonderful opportunity where creatives of different experiences and skill sets can share in a vision.
AARON HARVEY
Director / Co-Writer
Aaron has been involved in crafting award-winning films with Bulls+Arrows for several years and loves the power of a beautifully framed shot.
With a background in design, animation, photography and digital strategy, Aaron has over 15 years of creative projects and collaborations that he's both directed and been involved in. He has partnered with many different clients, post production houses and people such as Thankyou, Village Roadshow, TWLOHA, Igloo Digital, VB, Jetstar, Crown, T2, Simple Plan, World Vision, Epik Films, Switchfoot, City On A Hill, Reflex, Redemption Church, HOYTS, and many more!
Aaron has a passion for evoking discussion about culture, life and Jesus through powerful films and stories and is currently directing the Bulls+Arrows team at Youth Dimension.
JASON TUCKER
Producer / Co-Writer
Jason has been part of Bulls+Arrows since 2009 composing super emotive soundtracks that compliments the visual elements of their films.
As a filmmaker he loves how cinema can so powerfully tell a story and as a musician/composer he is passionate about creating music and soundscapes that move people.
Before coming on board Bulls+Arrows, Jason was keyboard and synth player in rock band, Selahphonic, who are also filmmakers and use film as a visual journey of their live performance. Jason is involved in all aspects of filmmaking, including writing, storyboarding, location sound recording, editing through to final production.
BEHIND THE SCENES
From pre-production to final release, everyone involved went above and beyond by investing a lot of time and energy into this project!
We are so grateful for all their contributions on this huge collaboration and look forward to “The Falling” will be used everywhere to spark some interesting discussions.
